Children in Home During Home Invasion on Northcote

12 Dec

by Ken Davidson

What would you do if two men with guns broke into your home while you were watching prime-time television with your family? That is exactly the unthinkable scenario one Hammond woman faced recently. On December 10,at approximately 8:00 pm, a Northcote Avenue woman ran out the back door of her home leaving her children inside when two armed men broke into the home. The woman ran to a neighbors home to call police. The children were not left alone as there were other adults in the home, but neighbors described the woman as visibly shaken after the incident. Hammond police responded quickly and acted decisively preventing injury in the situation. Occupants of the home described the suspects as two black males and the weapon as a “revolver.”

The suspects fled on foot when police arrived and were seen running west on 173rd st. Police canvassed the area but did not find the subjects. It is not known if anything was taken in the burglary.
