Ricky Spindler Family Searching for Fresh Leads

The family of Ricky Spindler is hoping for some fresh leads in their search. Ricky left home on 11/15/2013 and is believed to be in Crown Point, Winfield, Kankakee, IL or Indianapolis. His story has been shared on television and other media outlets and sightings have been reported. If you live in any of the areas listed above, please print the attached flyer and post it at local convenienece stores and other public places. Ricky is off his medication and his family just wants to know he is safe.

This is your LAST chance to voice your opinion to the Northwest Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) concerning the “Illiana” TOLL ROAD!

The FINAL vote on accepting the ILLIANA TOLL ROAD into NIRPC’s 2040 Comprehensive Regional Plan takes place on December 12, 2013 at the Sycamore Room at Woodland Park, 2100 Willowcreek Road, Portage, Indiana 46368

This TOLL ROAD is to be built under a Public/Private Partnership, which means that if not even one vehicle uses this toll road the private investors will still get paid with TAXPAYER money (YOUR MONEY)!

Highland Police Issue Burglary Alert

The Highland Police Department issued an alert advising residents to keep doors locked and report suspicious activity in the wake of recent daytime burglaries. The alert stated:

Several Daytime burglaries have occurred recently. Residents are reminded to secure your homes and to report any suspicious activity.

Griffith, Schererville, and Lowell police have issued similar releases in recent weeks.

Lowell Neighborhood Watch to Meet Dec. 7

On December 7, 2013, at 2:30 PM, the Lowell Police Department will hold an orientation to the Neighborhood Watch program at the Lowell Public Library. The orientation will cover the basics of the program and applications will also be available to join.

All applicant must:
Be 18 years of age
Be of High Moral Character
Be Free from Criminal History
Submit to a Criminal Background Check

Hobart Police Arrest Lowell Burglary Suspect

During the early morning hours of November 18th, 2013, the Hobart Police Department arrested John Earl Lucas, Jr, formerly a resident of Lowell, IN, outside of the Dollar Inn, located at 1855 Mississippi Steet, Hobart, IN, on an arrest warrant. The arrest warrant was filed by the Lowell Police Department October 24th, for Receiving Stolen Property and False Informing, related to a burglary reported in the 200 block of Oakley Avenue on October 6th, 2013. The investigation regarding other burglaries reported October 21st-22nd continues and we anticipate additional charges against Lucas, Jr. in the near future. We would like to thank the Hobart Police Department and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force of the U.S. Marshal’s Service for their assistance in apprehending Lucas, Jr.

This is an eyewitness police sketch of a suspect possibly involved in the October 21st – October 22nd burglary spree. If anyone can identify this man, or may have any other information helpful to our investigation, please contact the Lowell Police Department at 219-696-0411.


This is a sketch of the suspect in string of burglaries on October 21 and 22. Lowell Police do not believe this man is responsible for the November 2 burglary and also seek information in that case.
