Coroner Confirms Highland Man Murdered in Hessville

7 Dec

by Ken Davidson

Lake County Coroner Merrilee Frey has confirmed that a 38 year old Highland man was fatally shot at Game Time III bar early this morning. In a release this afternoon, the coroner stated that they were dispatched to St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago at 9:30 a.m. regarding the death of Thomas Ferrell of River Drive in Highland, Indiana. The cause of death was a single gunshot wound. Ferrell was 38 years old.

As reported earlier today by the Gazette, Ferrell was reportedly shot while in the parking lot of the Hessville establishment. The Gazette was unable to obtain comment from the Hammond Police Department regarding the incident. Earlier reports from HPD indicated that there is gang activity, including a gang house, in the area immediately adjacent to the establishment.

This incident occurred just steps from a september shooting which police later ruled to be accidental and self-inflicted. That shooting involved a teen carrying a handgun. Police believed that teen may have been selling drugs prior to the incident. As reported by the Gazette at the time, that incident may have involved another death absent heroic actions by Hessville residents who discovered the injured teen and called police.

It is getting crazy here anymore. That shooting a few weeks ago was almost across the street from the same location. Heard that was over someone being robbed for their cell phone

It’s been crazy. If you’re not properly outfitted for life out here with the proper tools, mentality on the mean streets you can always depend on 911 and janitors (police) to slide one’s corpse off the cement after the fact…

Another NWI resident dies from gunfire. The “Gazette” seems really eager to cover the sensational parts of shootings but isn’t willing to support efforts to expand gun control.

Poor kool-aider mistakes a private blog for the mainstream hack propaganda press kool-aid of opinions/editorials bias. Genius, there are facts presented here, nothing sensational about a bullet in the gut. Keep your hoplophobic views on firearms to yourself, firearms, the 2nd amendment aren’t going anywhere unless you want a civil war and massive chaos. Is it worth it?

Well Tommy, it’s your lie so tell it anyway you want to. I have met quite a few people at Deb’s and I do remember meeting someone who could have been you. I remember the model of the handgun he had and where he bought it from. I also remember the color of the case and how many spare magazines the guy had. In addition to that, the guy was a lousy shot and wouldn’t stand a chance in a gun battle with anyone who knew how to shoot. I also remember exactly what the guy looked like. If you are being honest, which I doubt, fill in the blanks and prove it. Otherwise, STFU.

So sparks697…What were you saying about gun control???

The Gazette reports news. If there is news on the gun control issue, we will report that to the best of our ability. Any recent arrests for illegal guns in the area?

I am expecting another post from McDermott’s public relation’s specialist, David Hien. Mr. Hien is a city official. Didn’t Mr. Hien comment about an earlier Hammond shooting? Wasn’t the comment, the Munster man should not have been out, as late as he had, and should not have been in the particular Hammond neighborhood.

Apparently this is Mayor McDermott’s crime prevention program!

Well I am certainly glad I moved out of Indiana when I did. The police were already crooked and the politicians mainly a judge were crooked selling cocaine out of the bars. When I was growing up the neighborhood was so safe and every one knew everyone. We use to walk to white castle on Chicago ave and calumet at am just for a burger and fries.

Very Sad what has happened ! It seems like the region in a whole is going down hill , a couple of weeks ago a Portage man pulls a gun out on a neighbor , Highland Police department issued a Burglary alert , robbery in dyer residential neighborhood and a few months back people getting robbed at gunpoint in there driveways and atm in Schererville and dyer ! makes you wonder what is going on with society these days and makes you guess in what area are you really safe in because it seems like crime is spreading everywhere like wildfire!
