Wal-Mart Issues Statement on EBT Outage

The Northwest Indiana Gazette received a response from Wal-Mart corporate officials regarding our inquiry. A Wal-Mart official stated “We acknowledge that there was a problem with Xerox (issued benefit cards). Our concern was with the customer. Wal-Mart business was not materially affected by the outage.” When asked whether that statement applied to both sales and losses of perishable items, the official responded “Yes.” The Gazette continues to work on this story.
