Lake County Prosecutors today charged Tavaras Rashad Tolliver and Vincent Alexander Fayson with two counts of armed robbery.  Both defendants are 17 years old but are charged as adults.  The charges stem from a rash of armed robberies which occurred in Hammond’s Hessville section beginning on October 4, 2013.  On Wednesday October 10, Officers from the Hammond Police Department and the STOP team responded to an armed robbery call at 173rd and Grand.  In that case, as in the others, teenage victims were approached by two young black males who brandished a silver handgun and demanded their cell phones.  Police responded immediately to the scene but the suspects had already fled.   Police then “pinged” the phones according to sources.  The phones were located at Oak Knoll Renaissance Apartments in Gary.  STOP Team members and County Police recovered a .38 caliber silver handgun as well as the two cell phones.   Tolliver and Fayson were taken into custody at that time.
