McDermott Heads Back to Broadcasting Booth

20 Sep

Mayor McDermott made light of his prior failed attempt at sports commentary today as he challenged “Lefty and other bloggers out there” to listen in tonight at 7:00 p.m. as he broadcasts the Bishop Noll game live on WJOB. The Mayor caused an interstate furor last month when citizens reported that he made disparaging remarks regarding the El Dorado Arkansas 12 and under league. WJOB and GoHammond.tv have both refused to release copies of the broadcast but the Mayor did acknowledge that inappriate remarks in a later interview with The Times of Northwest Indiana. Ironically, The Times of Northwest Indiana was a sponsor of the event but did not report on the incident. It was reported that James Dedelow, whose wife owns radio station WJOB, later admitted that he removed McDermott from the air on his blog.

The Northwest Indiana Gazette wishes the Mayor the best of luck in his broadcasting venture.

He even left a joke on his facebook about it! He asked if his insurance was current for slander.. Sad, sad man. this is a direct quote from his facebooK:

Kevin Smith, please make sure my liability coverage for defamation lawsuits is up-to-date. JED, from WJOB radio (a.m. 1230) has asked me to do color commentary for the Bishop Noll vs. Whiting football game this Friday at 7PM. I agreed to do so.

In light of what happened to me the last time I did color commentary for Dedelow (the Cal Ripken World Series game bw El Dorado and Crown Pt) this should be an interesting return to the booth for me.

I’ll try not to talk about wastewater contracts while I’m on the air, ok?

    Mayor Tom

Sorry, but this man does not deserve to be a mayor. He needs to be back in high school where all his high school jokes are funny.. Run the city Mayor, instead of running it to the ground.. because I hate to tell you this, that is exactly where it is!
